B.E Guardian

Privacy Policy

B.E Guardian, by Black Brazil Exchange. Last updated July 2026.

B.E Guardian is a free travel-safety companion for travelers in Brazil. Maps, on-device warnings, plans, contacts, and group tools do not require a purchase. Guardian Support is a separate human service linked to a registered trip, and Human Lookout service is arranged and priced separately. Rio is the live city, and some city apps, including São Paulo and Salvador, may be marked as preview while local support is being verified. We built the app to help you move through a city with confidence, and to let you stay connected with people you trust while you are there. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information.

The short version

The account you can create

If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address (to sign you in with a one-time code and to identify your account) and the name you enter (shown to the members of a group you join, so they know who you are). We do not ask for a password. We do not sell or rent this information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Guardian Support and purchases

If you purchase Guardian Support or a Trip Extension on the website, we collect the trip city, start date, duration, selected Support plan, email address, and payment confirmation needed to register and deliver that human service. Stripe processes the payment. B.E Guardian does not receive or store your full card number. A Guardian Support record does not include Lookout hours. If you later request a Human Lookout, BBE confirms the person, timing, availability, and separate price with you before the service begins. If you request a Temporary Phone Package, a representative records the device and return details needed for the rental. Any refundable card authorization is handled by the payment provider, and we do not publish or place a private return address inside the app.

Groups and person-to-person location sharing

A group is a small circle of people you trust. You join one with a code, or create one and invite others. Inside a group you can choose to share your live location so the other members can see you on the map and know you are okay. This sharing is:

The names, the group code, and the location you choose to share are visible to the other members of that group. Choose your group with the same care you would use to share your location with anyone.

Location

If you turn it on, the app uses your device location to show where you are on the map, to include your location when you choose to alert your crew, and, only when you turn group sharing on, to share your live location with the members of a group you joined. In Rio on iPhone, Zone guidance can also give iOS up to 16 selected circular safety zones. iOS may deliver a generic entry reminder when the app is not open. That reminder does not send your location to BBE and does not continuously track your route in the background. In cities marked preview or field test, location can also support planning, testing, and city-setup features while local safety-zone support is still being verified. Location is used only to make these features work. It is not used for advertising or tracking. You can turn location off at any time in your device settings, and the rest of the app still works.

Your private home anchor

You can save a private home anchor, a place that matters to you such as where you are staying, so the app can recognize when you have made it back. The anchor is yours. Its label and coordinates are stored with your account and are not shared with your group or with anyone else.

Motion

If you turn on live check-ins, the app uses your phone's motion sensors on the device to detect a sudden grab or snatch, so it can check on you and offer to alert your crew. This processing happens on your phone. Motion data is used only for this feature, it stays on your device, and it is never shared.

Emergency contacts and the phone-taken plan

You may manually enter the name, relationship, and phone number of up to two emergency contacts. The app does not request access to your address book. These details stay on your device until you choose Share my plan or Send contacts to BBE. Sharing through your device's share sheet sends the plan only to the destination you select. Sending it to BBE gives Black Brazil Exchange the contact details so our safety team can prepare for and respond to a phone-taken alert, including contacting members of your connected Guardian group. We do not use emergency contacts for advertising or marketing.

What we do not collect

The app does not require access to your address book, your photos, or any payment information to function. It does not read your messages, your browsing history, or your other apps. There are no third-party advertising trackers, no IDFA, and we do not share your data with data brokers.

How long we keep your information

We keep your account information, your trip, your home anchor, and your group memberships for as long as your account is open. Location you share with a group is kept only to power the live view and recent history for that group. Emergency contacts saved only on your phone remain there until you clear them or remove the app. If you choose to send a phone-taken plan to BBE, we keep it while your safety coverage is active and as needed for response follow-up, unless you ask us to remove it. If you trigger a safety alert, a record of that alert, which can include your name, email, and the location at that moment, is kept so we and your crew can respond and follow up. When you delete your account, your profile, trips, group memberships, location history, and home anchor are permanently removed, and safety-alert records tied to you are deleted or stripped of information that identifies you. Purchase and transaction records may be retained when required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or payment disputes. To remove a safety plan previously shared outside the account system, email us at the address below.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and your app data at any time from inside the app: open your account, choose Delete my account, and confirm. This permanently and irreversibly erases your account and the app data linked to it on our servers. Limited purchase and transaction records may remain when required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or payment disputes, as described above. There is no need to contact us, and no charge.

Children

The app is intended for adult travelers and is not directed to children under 13.

Your choices

You control location and motion permissions in your device settings and can change them at any time. Group location sharing is a separate choice inside the app, off until you turn it on, and stoppable in one tap. Emergency contacts are optional, manually entered, and stay on your phone unless you choose to share them. You can delete your account and app data from inside the app, as described above.

Changes

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date above.
